Electrification and Connected Car: Impact on Manufacturing

Final assembly goes electric! With the production of electric and hybrid electric vehicles clearly on the rise and car connectivity features significantly increasing, assembly engineers are faced with the challenge of adjusting their processes and technologies to these new developments.

But how best to address this vastly growing complexity in manufacturing today, in a time and budget efficient manner? What impact do electrification and connected cars have on manufacturing, exactly? What happens when you introduce a connected and electrified vehicle – including PHEV – into a new or already established final assembly facility? Which solutions, in terms of complexity management, are available with regard to the key areas trim lines, chassis, marriage, battery assembly and delivery including battery life VCATS (Vehicle configuration and test systems), electrical testing and off track?

These and many more questions are addressed and answered in the upcoming conference Assembly Engineering Insight 2017 @ Jaguar Land Rover, which takes place in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon/ Great Britain.

As a highlight of the conference, the Jaguar Land Rover team welcome you to join them on a tour of Jaguar Land Rover´s recently built Solihull final assembly facility, where they produce the Range Rover Sport, the Jaguar F Pace and the exciting new Range Rover Velar.

We are entering into a period of what can best be described as an automotive revolution. Political, environmental and social challenges are driving the industry to seek new solutions around the electrification of our powertrains. At the same time, the social media revolution continues to move from a day to day to a minute by minute aspect of our daily lives to satisfy our thirst for data and information.

Quenching this thirst for instant knowledge presents us with great opportunities with the advent of the connected car. This poses a big challenge to the automotive industry. How can this fantastic opportunity and revolution be turned into a seamless and uninterrupted design and manufacturing process?

Let’s talk about it! The Automotive Circle and Jaguar Land Rover cordially invite you and seek your participation in the Assembly Engineering Insight Conference 2017.

We look forward to seeing you at JLR!
