Confined complexity

Largely dominating a vehicles’ exterior design, accommodating a variety of complex functionalities in an extremely confined space, conveying the feel for a car while it is not moving, large-area modules, relevant for crash structures and lightweight design: That is what characterizes automobile doors, tailgates and hoods, and it clarifies why, in many respects, hang-on parts have a great share in the impression a vehicle leaves with its owner. Therefore, they are among the most important discernable vehicle modules, having to comply to a multitude of performance demands as products, but also requiring efficient, flexible and cost-efficient production processes.

Hence, promoting ideas for the construction and production of such parts is the goal of the annual international Automotive Circle conference Doors and Closures in Car Body Engineering in Bad Nauheim. With hands-on presentations of latest OEM series hang-on-part projects, the discussion of new solutions by importing system suppliers, an inspiring glimpse onto neighboring industry developments and the chance to inspect a number of recently launches full vehicles, the conference again
addresses its network of expert automobile engineers from all over the world.

  • the Doors & Closures Systems Award for the most convincing series OEM hang-on part development presented at the conference with all important aspects of its construction as well as production processes
  • the Doors & Closures Technical Solutions Award for the most inspiring specific innovation realised in a new OEM series hang-on part production presented at the conference
