MORE OR LESS VARIETY?

The "right material in the right place" results in a multitude of different material grades and classes in a car body which are consistently optimised for the corresponding application. New developments and generations provide better forming properties, higher strength and, ideally, significant weight savings. At the same time, increasing model diversity, global production concepts and electrification place new demands on car body design and the corresponding choice of materials.

What are the challenges for the materials usage in electric and autonomous vehicles? What are the latest material developments? How are these tested? Will the variety of materials remain or will this complexity be reduced in the future? Which materials will be used in 10 years?

To present and discuss these as well as further topics, the global network of automotive engineers will gather with wellfounded information and a high level of technical exchange at the annual Automotive Circle conference "Materials in Car Body Engineering" in Bad Nauheim from May 13 - 14, 2019.
