From product design to production approval - Integrated virtual engineering systems

Short time to market, low and controlled development, industrialization and manufacturing costs are among the key competitiveness levers for any industry. However, especially for the automotive industry, producing a highly complex and diversified product, it is crucial to be fast, accurate and robust, from the very early stages of product and process design.

Today, automotive OEM need to accommodate social trends such as an increasing demand on individualization, as well as demanding regulations (e.g. CO2 targets). Vehicle production needs to be reconfigurable, adaptive and evolving, economically successful and always on the lookout for the highest performing manufacturing technologies.

Therefore, an efficient and relevant information flow with development partners such as parts suppliers, engineering and facilities sub-contractors is mandatory to design a new vehicle in the shortest lead time and with the best level of industry standards.

The next conference 'Simulation' will take place

on 1 - 2 December 2015 in Bad Nauheim, Germany!

In this situation, the efficiency of the early design process is much enhanced when it is coupled with continuous and reliable feedback on key performance indicators from the plants, e.g. on cost, quality, process reliability, logistics implementation. Effective and reliable modeling, simulation, forecasting, and data mining tools, combined with information and communication technologies to provide an integrated virtual engineering system represent a key competitive factor in this context.

With its first installment, set up in collaboration with Renault SAS, the new Automotive Circle International conference Simulation 2014 addressed this field of integrated virtual engineering systems "from product design to manufacturing approval” in automotive industry. Through progress and status reports from leading international OEM, tier 1 and equipment suppliers, software developers and relevant academic institutions, the conference aimed at defining a state of the art and a future vision for integrated product process production virtual engineering systems.
