Updates in the making...

SUSTAINABLE LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN

Car manufacturers, suppliers and research institutes continue to work on further material developments to enhance the forming behavior, to reach higher strengths and to significantly reduce weight. At the same time, it is increasingly coming into focus that these materials are produced, used and processed in a resource-friendly way. It is unclear how the issue of sustainability will affect the future selection of materials.

The international conference "Materials in Car Body Engineering" will provide profound information on the state-of the-art in aluminium, steel and composite applications in car body engineering as well as possible approaches for future challenges in material selection.

The annual Automotive Circle conference "Materials in Car Body Engineering" deals with these and other topics and offers you a professional exchange at the highest level - so be there and join the discussion!

STEEL, LIGHT METAL AND COMPOSITE APPLICATIONS

MATERIAL IMPROVEMENTS

  • Higher strengths, improved qualities (steel, esp. AHSS; aluminium)
  • Corrosion protection (esp. high-strength steels)
  • New developments of hybrid materials and hybrid component reinforcements
  • New developments of composites (e.g. natural materials)
  • Testing, simulation and validation methods (esp. steel)

ENABLING PROCESS TECHNOLOGY

  • Hot forming and associated process technology (steel, aluminium)
  • Series production technologies for composites
  • Recycling and life cycle analyses (aluminium, composites)

MATERIAL-MIX IN THE CAR BODY

  • Application cases and experiences with ultra-high strength steels
  • Materials (concepts) for electric and autonomous vehicles
  • Use-cases, lightweight design potential, cost-efficiency (esp. Composite)
  • Validation, Simulation
  • Joining technology as a lightweight-design enabler (homogeneous and mixed-material joints)
