Conference - Doors and Closures in Car Body Engineering 2010

English/German simultaneous translation

16 - 17 November 2010
Bad Nauheim/Germany

Doors and Closures in Car Body Engineering 2010

The detailed conference programme will be available in the End of July 2010

Peculiar Parts

Within a given vehicle development project, the development of doors and closures is
always somewhat special: Representing important elements of the vehicle design, as well
as of the construction and production concepts of the complete car, they shape a variety
of vehicle properties that are of high relevance for the perceived customer comfort, for the driving characteristics and for the safety performance. With special CAE-methods, specific constructions, material usages and production schemes and also unique testing methods, these parts keep posing demanding challenges to automotive engineers both in develop-
ment and production.

For this reason, the Automotive Circle International conference on "Doors and Closures
in Car Body Engineering"
is again poised to focus on specific and recent engineering
solutions pertaining to such parts. The conference features most recent door and closure developments from current series cars by leading international OEM, including their physical presentation on site. It presents trailblazing developments from important system suppliers and research institutes. And, further to this, it offers the unique opportunity to meet the internationally leading network of expert car body engineers in this field in Bad Nauheim,
and to benchmark, via intense discussions and exchange of information, the state-of-the-art
in modern hang-on part engineering.

Doors and Closures Innovation Award

For the first time, the conference also bestows the new Doors and Closures Innovation Award , for the most convincing OEM engineering solution in the development and production of a new series car hang-on part. Similar to the prestigious EuroCarBody Awards for the most innovative complete body-in- white development, the conference audience itself will be responsible to evaluate and rank the OEM series hang-on parts presented according to technical criteria and will, in this way, decide about the awardee

Highlights of the conference in 2010

  • New series car hang-on part solutions:
Component part presentations of innovative BIW door and closure solutions, from most recent series cars of international leading OEM

  • Innovative lightweight design material concepts
Steel, light metals and fibre reinforced plastics competing for meaningful and economically viable weight savings in hang-on parts

  • Forming and joining technology
Challenges posed by design restrictions, mixed-material joints and novel materials in general

  • Functional integration
Doors and closures between the conflicting demands of light weight design, structural requirements and multifunctionality

Extra benefits!

Focus Workshops (English language only)
As in 2009, the 60-minute Focus Workshops, which address special topics within the field
of hang-on part engineering and which are moderated by renowned expert in that particular topic, constitute a particular highlight of the conference. As a conference participant you have the opportunity to take part in the workshop of your choice and to follow and shape the discussions held there. As a positive side-effect, the workshops allow to make immediate contact with conference delegates sharing your specific interest, in this way maximizing your networking possibilities

NEW: Live polls on site
Via an automated vote system, live polls among the participants on some key questions will
be held during the two conference days, taking the opportunity to gain some insight into the considerations of the conference audience, which, as an assembly of international doors and closures engineers, represents a unique body of expertise. Take an active part on the range
of opinions of the conference!

The conference addresses:
Automotive engineers with responsibility for the pre-development, development, planning and production of car body hang-on parts, from international OEM as well as their system suppliers and engineering service providers
