Conference - European Automotive Forming Conference

English/German Simultaneous Translation

6 - 7 October 2008
Bad Nauheim/Frankfurt, Germany

9th European Automotive Forming Conference

"The Press Plant Facing Shifting Requirements"
Innovative technologies - more production flexibility - cost optimization: Europe and Asia in tough competition

The PRESS PLANT is on the move …!

Day-to-day optimization measures in regard to quality control and value added are a routine for press plant and tool shop planners and process owners. What challenges press plant and tool shop, however, are upcoming model ranges using advanced steel and aluminium blanks and semi-products, and their requirements concerning styling, production processes, quality, quantities and costs.

Also in focus are:
  • Higher number of strokes for large-sized presses

  • Optimized set-up times

  • Improved maintenance

  • Further developed automation concepts

  • Determining static and dynamic press characteristics, and, last but not least

  • Most recent experience with the installation and commissioning of new presses.

A story all to itself will be the efficient use of resources in the future, in particular in light of the impact the new energy saving legislation and the "demographic shift" will have on the entire automobile industry.

Mounting pressure due to increasingly tougher competition on a globalized market triggers even more demanding technical specifications:
  • More flexible press plants in Japan

  • Higher-quality and lower-cost toolmaking in Korea

  • More and more alternatives from China today and India tomorrow!
Extensive data sets are exchanged and enormously heavy tools are shipped worldwide. How can European press plants protect their genuine know-how and/or keep their competitive edge? Reputable OEMs have come full circle and are producing their stampings in-house again! Will this be the beginning of a "back-to-the-roots"-strategy, i.e. manufacturing the complete process chain with the objective of gaining an edge in terms of quality and cost?

The annual European conference >>The Press Plant Facing Shifting Requirements<<, chaired by the most reputable automobile manufacturers, will answer all these questions and provide you with valuable insights in state-of-the-art processes as well as latest market developments. For many years, this conference has been the most important platform for the exchange of information and experience for high echelon OEMs and system suppliers.

This year's 9th European Automotive Forming Conference will focus on the following core topics:
  • The press plant of the future from a national and an international perspective

  • Further developed tools for small and volume series production

  • The virtual production process - the digital press plant

  • Materials - semi-finished products - processes and their consistent further development

  • Component and system supplier forum: Latest components showcased by their manufacturers in the exhibition area
