Painting technology is changing rapidly. In addition, the basic data for proposed and implemented processes and components such as pretreatment, paint materials, paint systems and equipment are no longer fixed over their whole service life. On the contrary, continuous improvements at existing locations are a basic prerequisite for maintaining competitiveness. The current challenge it to integrate new technology into existing paint shops while at the same time taking into account changes in the legislation, for example.

At the annual international Car Body Painting conference organised by Automotive Circle International, the leading European network of automotive engineers will once again come together at Bad Nauheim to define and discuss the state of developments and the future of car body paint shops.

Focus topics 2010:

Current legislation and its effects on the painting process
  • New nitrogen oxide limit values and associated optimisation options
  • REACH regulation in practice: What will happen on 1 January 2011?
  • Backlog relating to labelling requirements and waste water ordinance?
  • Current situation regarding nickel-free pretreatment
  • Bacteria in pretreatment and cathodic electrodeposition - what crisis management measures are required at international locations?
Enhancing the economic efficiency of existing paint processes
  • What added value and economic contribution does painting offer within the car body construction process?
  • Flexibility and economic efficiency - an unsolvable contrast?
  • How can economic efficiency and sustainability be combined?
  • What is the contribution from system and paint manufacturers?
  • Which EU and nationally funded research projects help facilitate economically and ecologically compatible paint processes?
New material, process and system technology
  • Implementing new paint technologies in existing plants
  • What solutions exist for multi-coloured car bodies?
  • Should the "cold paint shop" be the top aim of those responsible for the processes, or do alternatives promise more success?
  • Integration of filler-less processes
  • Changeover from wet washing to dry separation
Flexibility of the paint shop from an overall process perspective
  • How can a current paint shop ideally be converted to modern technology?
  • What measures are suitable for protecting existing locations?
  • Flexibility vs. standardized paint shop - what is the ideal solution?
  • How does the desire for flexibility influence the different process levels, including the paint systems?
  • Which solutions do system manufacturers pursue in order to keep international OEM locations up-to-date?
Your bonus
  • OEMs will be unveiling their latest and their future projects!
  • You can take an active part in this year's workshop on "Transforming existing paint shops sustainably", run by OEMs!
The conference addresses:
paint-shop managers/planners, divisional managers, departmental managers and strategic managers from OEMs, parts suppliers (Tier 1/Tier 2) and their service providers, such as coating manufacturers, raw material suppliers, application and equipment suppliers as well as consultants.
