About the conference
Agile manufacturing in high volume production: integrating future products and technologies into the production system
Electrification of the powertrain, autonomous drive, new mobility concepts and mobility users - the automotive industry is facing major upheavals worldwide. This revolution has already begun; however, its full extent and exact implementation cannot yet be entirely foreseen.
Even though it cannot be predicted completely, the future has to be prepared and planned today. OEMs and their suppliers are faced with the immensely difficult task of finding solutions today that will solve tomorrow's requirements. It is, ultimately, through their own developments that they are going to shape this future themselves.
One big challenge for many is not only to develop new concepts and vehicles, but also to integrate them into existing global production structures. The Insight @ BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC conference focused on the solutions available for this purpose.
BMW is an expert in flexible production, and nowhere is this more evident than in Spartanburg, USA, the BMW plant with the largest production volume worldwide. A large part of the X-models is produced here, with the X5, X6 and X7 models running on one production line and all models being fully interchangeable. With an export quota of 70%, Spartanburg is already ideally equipped to react flexibly to the most diverse requirements worldwide.
